Heidi Peterson – Chief Operating Officer
As Waséyabek’s COO, Heidi leads the operational and strategic initiatives needed to manage a sovereign wealth fund. She works closely with the executive team and subsidiary leadership across a diversified portfolio that includes investment real estate, conventional commercial operating businesses, and federal-sector companies. Through this work, she helps advance Waséyabek’s core objective of diversifying the economy and supporting long-term economic self-sufficiency, stability, and sustainability for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi.
Prior to joining Waséyabek, Heidi built a strong foundation in operational excellence, including substantial experience at Haworth. Throughout her executive career, she has championed servant leadership, fostering a culture of collaboration, empowerment, and corporate stewardship within the organizations she serves.
Passionate about cultivating the next generation of leaders, Heidi actively mentors college students as they transition into the professional world, helping them secure meaningful internships and launch successful, long-term careers. Her commitment to academic and professional development is further reflected in her past service on the advisory board for Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business.
